I have to agree with one of the most recent reviewers, I felt like it was so so for the price. When my pasta dish arrived, it was a bit on salty side and it could have used some more spices or herbs. The service was super friendly and atmosphere was pleasant. I enjoyed looking around at the art on the walls. DiGrotto pizza, which is everywhere at Bethany beach is right next door. I could have probably whipped up a tastier pasta dish. But if you are looking to get out, and have a decent dish, then this may be for you.

Very good birthday meal for the family. We ended up there on a ladies night which resulted in half our party getting 50 percent off entrees. The food and desserts are always good and at a discounted price, it increased the rating of this place.

Service was great--our server was informed, friendly and very efficient. The food was okay--my wife had spaghetti and I had the gnocchi, they were pretty run-of-the-mill for the price. Even though the service was exceptional, we probably wouldn't go here again given how much it cost for a meal.

I used to absolutely love this place, I would come at least once every time I was in Ocean City. I ate at Di Febo's in the Fall and got sick imediately upon getting home. Came back again in the Winter and the sick feeling began at the table and lasted all night. Maybe the food isn't as fresh or used up and replenished as quickly as in the summer? Both times I had a chicken dish. Too scared to go back again :(

My fiancee and I were running late and most places said they closed at 9. When I called they told me they stopped serving at 10. We arrived at 9. When we got there we were greated and seated promptly. The server came right away and took our drink order after carefully review the specials. We ordered appetizers and entrees. They had a special brushetta for the day that was topped with fresh mozzarella. It was delicious. We also had steamed mussels in a red sauce. Very tasty. The meal took a turn for the worse when the waiter kept hovering over us as we were eating our appetizers. He came back 3 times in a 5 min period to see if he could clear the food. My fiancee was clearly eating and you could see that. It made us feel very rushed. He finaly just brought our main dishes, even though we were not finished with our appetizers. I had a veal chop and my fiancee had a ravioli special. The waiter said the restaurant suggested my veal chop either medium rare or medium. I ordered it medium rare. I received it medium well. My fiancee's ravioli were not much better. They were very sweet. The desert left much to be desired. For a $120, I expect better service and my food to be served how I ordered it. I would recomend the parkway, much better service and food food was much tastier.

This place is overrated. It's decent I would say, but I can't give it a 4 star, when I rate Mio Fratello in Fenwick a 4 star. They have a good selection of dishes and the food pretty good.

Difebo's is excellent for carry out but I find dining in to be inconsistent. Their sandwiches are all outstanding but some of the lunch dishes leave a lot to be desired. Lunch is a great deal, since you can order one entree and get a second for half off but dinner is a bit pricey for what you get. I think I miss the day's of Difebo's being basically just a shack with a deck where you'd go to get an amazing italian cold cut. Now it's attempting to be fine italian dining, but I don't think it's quite able to pull it off. I'll still go pretty much every time I'm in Bethany, but it will be mostly for a sandwich to go, just like old times.

Great for lunch. Cheesestake was huge and the crabcakes were delicious.

My wife and I have been coming to DiFebo's for years. We have a beach house in Bethany and years ago we stumbled upon this small 2 maybe 3 table restaurant in a Deli. It was run by this cute young couple. They served meals and we became frequent costumers. A few years later they open this relatively big restaurant. We were excited but scared. Well, our fears were dissipated quickly. the restaurant is wonderful. I would match the dishes to those we have had in respected restaurants around the world. We are have never been disappointed at DiFebo's and we have been there many times every year. It is the only restaurant where we know the number of our favorite table. We won't tell which one because we are very possessive. :)

We've been going to DiFebos's for years, but, recently, the food has gotten better and better. The last three meals have been amazing. From the seafood pasta, to the salads (the Pasitano is amazing), to the red sauces all-around. Great food recently. And, the DiFebo family is hands-on which is a good sign in the restaurant business. Also, don't forget to visit Blaine at the bar for AMAZING service, good conversation, and perfect wine recommendations.

Coming from NYC, we are quite particular about restaurants. Difebo's was an extraordinary find in Bethany Beach. From Mr. Tony Pasta's welcome (his real name!) to the excellent service by all the wait staff topped off by WONDERFUL cuisine at fair prices, we wish we were here longer so we could go back. DON'T MISS THIS PLACE!!!!

We came upon Di Febo's by accident. It was a happy surprise. It is high season in Bethany and the place is popular. They had a great menu and great service. We were seated pretty quickly after we arrived. This was a surprise as it looked pretty full. The dining room we sat in had large windows so you could see what was going on in the kitchen. They had a pretty decent menu. I only had a salad on this trip, but I was pleased with it.

Another amazing meal! A few years ago we tried Difebo's a few times. It was always acceptable but not memorable. We ate there last winter, just because nothing else was open at the beach in January. To our surprise, the meal was awesome! We've been back multiple times since and have consistently had amazing food. The stand out it the Bolognese sauce. It's usually featured with a homemade pasta or in the house lasagna as a special. It's rich, super meaty and the portions are definitely enough for two. The Positano salad is another favorite with figs, blue cheese, pine nuts and a wonderful viniagrette. All of the seafood is fresh and delicious. If you like eating at the bar, there's always a small, friendly group there and Blaine is a terrific bartender...remembers your name and what you like to drink. Overall, this is one of the very best spots we've found at the beach and now that it's off season, the crowds have quieted down.

Good food, nice owners, takes reservations. Can't say much for the new Host, he looks like he belongs in Miami, not Bethany Beach. He is not consistent with the family owned reputation that they have upheld all these years. We dine there frequently.

Our entire family has been going to DiFebo's since the 1990's and recommending it to everyone we know all through the years. The food is just top notch and the chefs have always made vegan dishes for me while my wife ordered from the menu... The bar and wine offerings are great. All in all, this is a Bethany treasure. Prices are fair and the service is attentive. See you there! -Enjoy!

We had breakfast for the first time. Three of us ordered omelettes. All of us reacted similarly and emphatically: they were dry, way overdone and tasteless. The staff was very cooperative and we ordered terrific alternatives: waffles with fruit, eggs with pancakes and a had absolutely delicious yogurt, fruit and granola. The pancakes are light and fluffy and the waffles were delicious. We ate outside in the courtyard- so pretty but a scene as we kept moving around the sun even as we were under the umbrella.

We have been going to this restaurant for many years. The pasta is excellent. We haven't loved the fish dishes or anything that isn't pasta. The service can be inconsistent and the take out can be a little inconsistent as well. Overall we like their food and continue to go back.

When we walked in the door, the host sat us to a table that was tightly squeezed in between two other crowded tables. Generally I wouldn't have minded, but those two tables were the only tables in the restaurant at that time. He knew that it was a tight squeeze, and then proceeded to say "Hope you don't mind sitting next to each other," referring to the point that we would be unable to sit across from each other. Well, it was extremely awkward and we sat way too close to the other tables. I figured that they had a lot of reservations after mine, but they didn't. We ordered the Ahi Tuna Bruschetta appetizer, which was good. I couldn't taste the peaches, and the Ahi Tuna was just a tad over cooked, it was advertised as rare. I wouldn't knock them on that though, because I like my tuna very rare. Otherwise, it was a good appetizer and the serving size was plenty to share, $12. The bread was good, it came with oil and cheese, they only give you one piece and didn't ask if we wanted more when waiting, so be sure to ask if you want more. For dinner, we ordered the Spaghetti & Meatballs and the Orecchiette with Sausage and Broccoli Rabe. The meatball was one big meatball and it fell apart too much, to the point where it became just a meat sauce and was difficult to pick up in a piece. The sauce was good, though, $15. The orecchiette was way too oily; it was basically drowned in oil. The sausage and broccoli rabe was good, $18. Dessert was good; we each ordered the passion fruit sorbet. Overall, the food was just okay, the service definitely could have been better.

Back this year. No more Osso Bucco but had a delicious veal scallopini. We had reservations & were seated immediately, with food promptly brought to the table. Staff was responsive, accommodating, great waiter. Some using the available outside seating. Big portions served. Great desserts.

My family loves difebos! I've been coming here for years. I came to this establishment for breakfast and I combined two meals together the classic Benedict and the smoked salmon toasted bagel. ( toasted bagel, cream cheese, red onions, capers) What I wanted was the bagel and everything included on the bagel with the Benedict eggs and holiday sauce. The waitress was very accommodating and polite about it :). The meal came out amazing with such a big proportion. I made breakfast and lunch out of it. My boyfriend and I regularly get the Gorgonzola filet mignon here as well. I know right getting steak at a Italian place? It's amazing!!! Best steak I've ever had. This time I tried the surf and turf which includes a crab cake. This is weird but best I ever had as well!! My boyfriend got a blue cheese martini so good he needed another! And I got the blueberry mascarpone bread pudding also very good. The restaurant is a bit pricey but deffinantly worth a vaca treat! Last of all as your walking out the door in a food coma ;) the candy machine has chocolate covered coffee beans. I don't recommend it for children but it's so nice to see a candy michine with adult candy! And can come in handy getting you out of that food coma.

The amazing menu covered traditional Italian and seafood and meat and great deserts. The thing that separated this restaurant is their service.

My boyfriend and I went to Difebo's as we saw it coming in to town and wanted a change from the greasy boardwalk food we'd been eating. The place was surprisingly upscale. Maybe we had beach head but I definitely felt underdressed in jeans and a t shirt. We didn't really know what we were in for, but had I known I would have put on a blouse or sundress. The food is good, but pricey. A big pet peeve of mine is when Italian restaurants don't serve their pasta dishes with a salad or side, as they didn't here. I feel like if meat dishes get vegetables, I should be able to with pasta as well. Even more so, when I'm already paying $20+ dollars for the pasta dish, I shouldn't have to dole out another $6 for a salad. Drinks are somewhat pricey too. The "special" sangria was $12. I thought maybe since it was advertised as a special and it was happy hour time at the bar it'd be a bit cheaper. The food was nice, but for just a regular night out, not worth the price, in my opinion. I'd save it for a special occasion, where it would definitely do the trick.

Was looking for a good Italian restaurant while on vacation in Bethany, and I found it. My waitress was Stacy and she provided great service. The dining atmosphere was great and they even have a grotto-style outdoor seating area. I had the orecchiette pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage. It was delicious. My wife had the chicken parm and my daughter the home made raviolis. Both were excellent. They have a delicious home-made sauce (or red gravy). I could not say anything negative about this place and I have high standards. They get busy, but it is worth the wait. Someone told me they take reservations and most places by the beach do not.

Absolutely our favorite Italian restaurant on Delmarva! When I walk in the door and smell the red sauce, my mouth starts watering. They have a nicely varied menu, from pastas [of course], to meat and fish dishes, with interesting daily specials. My personal acid test, the gnocchi, are firm and flavorful without weighing on my stomach like balls of modelling clay. Everything is fresh. The vegetables have body and flavor. Even the bread tastes great. [Use the olive oil and pepper, Italian style.] Portions are appropriately sized, and we have never left feeling less than fully sated. Usually, it's a struggle to save room for one of the sinful desserts. The atmosphere is genial and comfortable, like your cozy neighborhood place on the corner. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are helpful on prime occasions [Valentine's Day, Mothers' Day, that kind of thing] even for two. They have a covered patio, with heaters if necessary, for dining al fresco. The bar is thorough, with seasonally featured cocktails and wines. If their own white sangria is available, get it! It's wonderfully crisp with a slight sweetness; just the thing after a hot day. The wait-staff are cordial and attentive without hovering. There is parking on-site. Prices are reasonable. I highly recommend DiFebo's to anyone who asks. It is well worth the hour+ drive [that's in the off-season] from our home. I can't wait to try their new location in Rehoboth Beach.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years, and two things have never changed - the quality of the food, and the service you receive when you get there. Last weekend I had the best lasagna ever served by a new bartender who made the meal even more enjoyable!

The kitchen staff is amazing & it was wonderful watching them work through the beautiful glass doors. The food was mind blowing. The wait staff was ok. I would come back in hopes my waiter was having a bad day.

Had water dripping on us from the air conditioning during my entire meal. It literally soaked the table. We had an okay meal but it's sooooo crowded that I'd rather go to a smaller place. Ordered shrimp. Couldn't finish more than one because the batter was too thick.

  • Matt T.

Went for lunch, was extremely impressed by the service and the quality of everyone's dish. Surprisingly they have some of the best onion rings we've ever tasted, and the deserts are all baked in house by a very pleasant server. This restaurant is not strictly Italian, which makes it a good option for those who want something tasty but don't necessarily want Americanized Italian cuisine. One person in our party did order meatballs as a side and was very happy. Everything I sampled was excellent, which does not usually happen when I go out. I would not hesitate to return, and I will at least once more while I'm down here.

  • Rebecca R.

The food is always amazing, no matter what you order (I did the penne pomodoro, heard raving reviews about the veal chop special). Good appetizers, great desserts (if they're offering the peanut butter pie, order it!!) Only downside is how crazy the place gets in-season. Had to wait 15 minutes for our reserved table in the rowdy lobby, with all these other large parties and kids. LOUD restaurant, but the food makes up for the noise and the wait.

  • Tony B.

I've never had a bad meal and I usually like Difebos until the service started to suffer recently. In particular, we went on Sunday, July 5 for breakfast. The place was about half full with plenty of available tables. There were several people waiting ahead of us. We were told by the hostess that there would be a ten minute wait so the staff could catch up. Most of us walked out then and there. Suggestion: Seat your customers and give them a cup of coffee. I'm not going to stand in a crowded area looking at empty tables. Allowing decisions like this damages your business. I'll look for another breakfast place in the meantime.

I have dined there many times. It is our "go-to" restaurant. The food is ALWAYS excellent. A waiter named Sergio is our favorite. He always goes out of his way to make us feel at home, and this goes for the entire staff. I have taken many of our guests to DiFebo's and to a person, they have all loved the food, drinks and service. I very highly recommend it.

Just visited for a late lunch; first time this beach trip though we've come in the past too. Had 4 adults, 1 teen, a 7 year old and a newborn. Staff was fun and professional. Fried calamari app was delicious - we ordered two. It comes with fresh red dipping sauce that is delicious. We tried a variety of entrees including lasagna, pan cooked mussels (an upgraded app for the teen), the short rib pannini. All of these were great but the topper was the fig/Gorgonzola risotto with chicken. This was seriously the most amazing dish I have had in a long time (and we just got off a luxury Crystal cruise)! It was rich, complex, a balance of amazing contrasts that worked perfectly. Just writing this review makes me want it again. Some of the folks enjoyed their house white Sangria and loved it too. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are big. This restaurant is a classic- good food and atmosphere together in a convenient place. We highly recommend it and hope you love it too.

We visited late Saturday night and we nicely greeted and given a great table. Wait staff all seemed very nice. Started with their white sangria and it was freshly made and perfect! Bread was served freshly made and warm, excellent, We started with the meatballs which were good but not served hot, they were warm and the cheese wasn't melted. Hubby had their signature dish of veal chops, very good. I had the risotto special, seared scallops in a very decadent cheesy risotto dish, amazing. Will definitely return. Pricey but worth it!

I will ask the acid tongued owner to refrain from posting yet another snarky response to a negative review. The first two times I had brunch were perfectly fine. That was over Summer of 2014. I was looking forward to brunch yet again. I should have picked up the immediate bad vibes when we arrived and the woman making reservations picked up the phone twice and made us wait 5 minutes before simply seating us. Instead we were patient. While we were waiting, a very unhappy looking chef/ or line cook stared out from the kitchen. A dark, large boned woman who seemed utterly miserable. Strike 2. We were seated indoors because there "were flies covering the outside patio" Strike 3. I didn't trust my gut and we ordered indoors (even though there were at least 4-5 flies around our indoor table) I ordered Eggs Benedict. It seemed like the Hollandaise was a bit gloopy and I was sad that it was a big fail compared to the previous 2 times. Additionally, the canadian bacon was overcooked, while the english muffin was doughy. My boyfriend told me to complain, but I didnt want to fuss and force the cook to remake it. Within a couple hours I had bad stomach pains, headache and was dizzy. I have robust health and am fairly young. I joked that it must have been bad eggs. Fast forward and I have dealt with classic symptoms of food poison. I think I would have just let it go, but reading the rude and mocking replies on Yelp by Difebo's management brought out my inner "Oh Hell No". I read that Taste of Italy actually offers real Italian food. Definitely going to try that out since I refuse to ever go back here again.

Pretty decent Italian place. Ate here while on vacation and can't really complain an incredible amount about the food; it was decent. A bit above average but nothing extremely out of the ordinary. Service was below average. Had to wait about 10 minutes to be offered cheese on my pasta. Asked for more bread and received none. I felt as though I was neglected as a customer. Prices are way too much. Spaghetti and ONE meatball 16? I don't think that's appropriate. In addition, I was absolutely astonished to find an order of garlic bread (priced at 5 dollars) was exactly three slivers of bread with some olive oil and minced garlic. I was also seated next to a dehumidifier. It certainly did not add to my experience in a positive light. I will not be back.

Ok place but not as special as we'd hoped, especially for very expensive Italian. Went there because Just Hooked next door had too long a wait. Salmon was dry, even tho I specifically asked for it medium rare. Kathy was a super nice waitress, but the bread dude came around once and never returned with their homemade bread. White wine sangria drink special was a little odd. Calamari ok, and Caesar salad was pretty good.

There is now a DiFebos in Rehoboth as well as the original in Bethany. The food is every bit as good and now it's in the heart of downtown Rehoboth Beach. I had a delicious eggplant parmigiana while my son had the huge portioned chicken parmigiana which he loved. Great service.

Every special is good but tonight's Snapper with crab mannicoti was over the top! Rich craemy crab & spinach in a crepe like roll under a perfectly prepared red snapper just melts in your mouth. Best bartender around as well. Blane knows just which wine will pair perfectly with every meal.

This is above average pasta, veggies, meats, and desserts but nothing to blow you away. My garlic bread was frozen in the center but the rest of our meal was very fresh. The staff are very pleasant and hard working.

  • Christopher S.

Absolutely average Italian. It is the beach but in a real Italian neighborhood some pizzerias have better food. There it wouldn't be fancy but great; here they try and hardly succeed. Service was completely to be desired and entrees I can make better myself. If craving Italian it's ok, but from anyone knows this is a complete pass. On 2nd thought service got worse later in the meal. Now it's a definite no go.

Horrendous service!!! I went with my in-laws and their friends and, 3 minutes after we were seated, we were told they accidentally seated us at owner's table and they actually made us leave. It was unbelievable. They use to be the only game in town for decent food ... that is no longer the case. Go elsewhere!

My husband and I first came to DiFebo's for Valentines day 2014 and we fell in love (with the restaurant lol). We just recently returned for our anniversary on Saturday 7/26 and everything was amazing. When we want a good filet, this is where we come. We have never had anything else, but the filet mignon is amazing and cooked to perfection. I get the plain filet topped with gorgonzola and my husband gets the surf and turf which was the same filet but topped with 5 jumbo shrimp. Both came with delicious mashed potatoes and asparagus. We also dined on their crab bruschetta which I believe changes daily. We had the lobster bruschetta back on Valentines day which was my fav! We drank their summer sangria, which was very light and delicious! We really enjoy celebrating our special occasions there and will continue to do so, we look forward to our next visit! Also, the service has never disappointed...everyone is great!

What they serve does not even resemble Italian food. It is absolutely terrible. When I complained, the attitude was take it or leave it. There was no recourse. For good Italian food, try Taste of Italy in Rehoboth Beach.

If waiting an hour for food is what you enjoy, maybe this is the place for you! We asked the owner after an hour of receiving our starters where our food was. She rudely stated that it was memorial day weeekend and what did we expect? Hardly a comment you would expect from an owner of an upscale restaurant. Another 15 minutes went by with no food and we were then told there were 3 tickets ahead of us. Starters were average - arugula salad had way too much vinegar. Can't comment on the main course we decided not to wait forever!

My wife and I wandered I after our first choice restaurant told us there was a long wait and I'm glad we found this place. The owner was friendly and engaging and visited each table during dinner. (As a former restaurateur I think this activity is mandatory!) I asked him a couple questions about the menu and was told it was okay to substitute items here and there. He even brought over a bottle of his "private stock" olive oil infused with habanero peppers when I asked if the chef would make a dish spicy. We started with the calamari (which I think is the bellwether of the kitchen's ability - so many restaurants bring out the dish hard and overcooked) and it was cooked perfectly and tender. A nice assortment of bread is offered. My wife had the ossobucco which she loved. A demitasse spoon was provided for the marrow. I had the creamy crab pasta which I thought was delicious and was surprised at the generous portion of crab meat. The entrée items are reasonably priced with ample portions. We will definitely return!

Went here for breakfast with my wife and 2 yr old on vacation. I have been here half-a-dozen times on vacations in the past. The food was average, and the service was horrible. Our server failed to bring us cream for our coffee, utensils, water...a muffin for my starving 2 year old...you name it. We said goodbye to the hostess on our way out, who failed to say a word. We will not be coming back.

We've been here half a dozen times over the years, and our experience has been inconsistent. The food is excellent, although there are occasional misses, but the kitchen is usually slow. (To be fair, the menu does tell you that their dishes are prepared separately and to expect to wait a bit longer, but at times it can be too long.) As for the service and the ambience, they depend on what time you're there and where you're seated. First piece of advice: go early. By about 6:00 the noise in all but the front dining room is deafening, making conversation almost impossible, and it gradually wears you out. We were there last night. There were three of us. The first table we were taken to was in the corner of a small back room that had two large parties with small children. We asked to be moved, and they took us to a "traffic table," just outside that room but sticking out in the room so waiters, runners and other patrons had to go around us to get into the adjacent dining room or to tables behind us. We were seated next to a party of six who were obviously regulars, with the result that they pretty much monopolized the waitress we shared, despite her best efforts. They were also very loud. As for the food and the service, the first thing that happened was that our calamari was brought to the table next to us by mistake. The waitress didn't tell us this until we asked what was taking so long. She was very apologetic, but it should have been comped. It finally came about 20 minutes later, but as a result our entrees were delayed, so it took a long time for our dinner to come. The food is pretty good, but not great, and it's a very close call whether it's good enough to overcome the incredible noise and the slow kitchen. I have to say that our server was as attentive as she could be under the circumstances, but she couldn't do anything about the slow kitchen and the runner who delivered our appetizer to the wrong table. Last night, we were so worn out and frazzled from the din, we ordered our desserts to go -- which took another 25 minutes! We may or may not go back, but if we do it won't be any time soon, and it will be much earlier in the evening, like 5:30.

Best and most authentic Italian food on the DELMAVA. European atmosphere and pace of service by knowledgable servers. The lasagna is great and enough to share. Never had a bad meal and I visit every time I'm in the area which is often. The bar is well stocked and service there is quick.

Food was good for the price. Service was poor. I don't think Efrain was on his A game that night. Took our order. Never received any bread with dinner while other tables were getting some. Someone else brought out our food. When we were ready to dig in we realized we had no silverware and had to wait for the waiter to come back. At least 5 minutes while our food was getting cold. Then when I got the bill I remembered why I have not been there for 3 years. The drinks are extremely expensive. Really $12.00 for a glass of Sangria. They are not in Philly or New York. Anyway I like Mancini's in Fenwick better also like another person mentioned. If I didn't have a gift card that someone gave me I would not have gone there. Tip. Have a cocktail at home first or somewhere else and skip the alcohol at the restaurant. It will definitely cut down or your tab.

This is our 2nd trip here and my husband is a vegan. On ourfirst visit when we sat we asked if they could accommodate vegans. The owner heard about our request and came out. He spent a significant amount of time talking with my husband on that visit asking very detailed questions. The owner then went back and created something just for him. I was very impressed. My food was also very delicious. The 2nd visit was just as good as the first. This will be a regular place for us now on our visits here. Thanks DiFebo's, you have been the most accommodating restaurant thus far in Bethany.

This is one of our favorite places to dine! They always offer delicious specials and the regular menu is great, too. The service is impeccable. Definitely try it!!!

The food was excellent!! The portions were much larger than I expected. The waiters were all very nice. A little bit expensive but worth it. A lovely atmosphere outside.

We always go there whenever we visit Delaware. Food is great quality, owner is very friendly. My father loved their broccoli and he doesn't like broccoli-couldn't stop raving about it! Prices are a bit high but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend

Well I went here a few months ago and I was quite disappointed. First off the customer service was quite poor. The waiter literally hovered around the table while we ate our appetizers and asked if he could take our dishes 3 times while we were still eating, keep in mind this was all within 15 minutes. If I wanted to shovel down my food in 5 minutes I would go to Burger King. Next, while the appetizers we ordered (mussels for me, bruschetta for her) was quite tasty, the main courses were awful. On the waiters recommendation we ordered the veal chop medium rare, we received it medium well, rubber tire anyone? Yum, not! The ravioli we ordered was overly sweet, and I like sweet tasting sauces but this tasted like it was drowned in sugar..yuck! It was so bad we passed on dessert and just had coffee to get the taste out if our mouths. The final tally for poor rushed service and mediocre to poor food that wasn't cooked as ordered came to $120, We would have been better off at Burger King to get a satisfying meal. We won't be going back.

Because there isn't an option for 3.5 stars I will just give the rating a 3. Service was great. Food came out quick and correct. Water was refilled. Wine was poured. We went at 5 pm for dinner so there wasn't a crowd and the service matched it. The reason for the mediocre rating is because we felt that the food was good not great. I got the crab and mushroom rigatoni. It was tasty but for the $25 price tag I would expect more crab and mushroom. My wife got cheese ravioli with a meatball. The meatball was good but the cheese filling in ravioli tasted off. No real way to describe the taste other than off. Not gross but not what you would expect for such standard Italian fare. For the expensive price tag that the menu at difebos has you would expect a little bit more bang for your buck like including a salad or desert or a bread basket as opposed to just one piece if bread. Overall the atmosphere and ambiance was nice and I think we are willing to give it another shot some day after we give the other restaurants in the bethany area a fair shake as well.

Food was ok, service wasn't great, place was expensive - I don't know the area well, so maybe this is the only nice restaurant around, but I wasn't impressed.

My family and I have been coming to Bethany for years and usually come to Difebo's at least once. It has always been ok to good each time but has always been pricey. The most recent trip to Difebo's last night will be my last. The service was decent but not great. Our server got some of our orders wrong. My Uncle ordered the swordfish and got the salmon. My Aunt got the special risotto with crab and lobster and when it first came out it was cold. The second batch we got was very undercooked. I got the linguine with crab sauce and it was not anywhere near worth the $28 I paid. My Grandma got the salmon and it was to salty. My grandpa got the spaghetti and meatballs as he always gets and said the pasta was overcooked and the meatball was too bready We complained to the waiter and the manager and nothing was done about any of this. For the amount of money they are charging for this mediocre food and service it is not anywhere near worth it. There was no wait for a saturday night and plenty of open tables at 7pm. It looks like the writing is on the wall for this place as it has gone way down hill after several years of being a Bethany beach must for Italian food.

Food was nothing special but the wait for the food was exceptional (long). Perhaps we didn't dress well enough for prompt attention. Not a good place for vegetarians unless you don't mind eating the side dishes. The four of us won't be going there again.

I feel like I must have been at a different restaurant then most of these other reviewers...at least I had to have been there on an off night. Having said that there is one portion of my experience I wanted to share, if for no other reason just so I can go back and read it for my own entertainment... Our waitress, who I must say was very nice, really has no business waiting tables. Or at least needs some training on dealing with vegetarians or people with food restrictions. To start, my wife asked if the Risotto was made with Chicken stock or a vegetable based stock. She had just said she was a vegetarian. The waitress replied, "I'm not sure. I think it may be vegetable stock...yeah it's vegetable stock." Not instilling a lot of confidence I assure you. In almost any other situation I've been in like this, where the wait staff is uncertain, the waiter or waitress will usually offer to check with the kitchen. Whether they do or not, I can't guarantee, but they do go through the motions. This woman was perfectly cool with guessing. Next my wife asked if the sauce that came with a particular dish was again vegetarian or meat based. The waitress replied "It's vegetarian. I mean they cook the meatballs in it, but then they take them out, and what's left over is what they use for the sauce, so there's no meat in it anymore." Finally and this took the cake...after my wife chose a pasta dish with marinara sauce the waitress asked if she would like chicken with it?!?!?!? We just looked at each other in disbelief. Nevertheless there were four of us at dinner. One person liked their food, two were indifferent about it and one couldn't eat it due to the fish being overcooked to the point that it was difficult to cut. The manager did take the fish off of the bill which was nice, but overall it was a tough night at Difebo's.

Last night we had a fantastic meal at Difebos... We had made reservations, on a busy Saturday night, and we were taken to our table right away. (Otherwise the wait was probably about 30 minutes) Kathy was our server, and she provided perfect service. Lots of small touches like the hot pepper olive oil to go with the bread. Everything was delicious, and on the way out the door we made reservations for the coming week. Highly recommended!

Being Italian and coming from a family that passes down and cooks authentic meals, I have to begin by stating I am super critical of Italian restaurants. With that being said..... Having tried DiFebo's at least 4 times for dinners and events, I can say that their service is normally consistently good (with the exception of management (a bit hot tempered and arrogant, however unless you are planning an event, you won't have to deal with that end of DiFebo's). The bread is great and most of the appetizers I have tried are good and the oil they serve with their bread is amazing. The entrees, however, need work. Their standard red sauce lacks the fresh basil and garlic taste you would expect from a marinara. The prices are high based on the amount of food you receive and the quality. The entrees are just meh and unfortunately the taste and quality are not consistent. This is a pet peeve of mind and drives me crazy. I have had dishes that were awesome and dishes that were awful, so its hard to rate DiFebo's higher than two stars. Go to Mancini's in Fenwick for amazing Italian....so much better quality and flavor. The price is consistent with DiFebo's however the portions are huge and the quantity, flavor and consistency is spot on.

Just got back from there tonight. Will not be returning for dinner. Also, I always forget that 3 stars = A-OK, which this place is not, so 2 stars = I have had better. First off, the good. The place looked clean, staff was friendly and waiter was subdued, but nice and polite. Appetizer was very good. We had the Risotto Balls. Bread was GREAT!! If we had salads, bread and appetizer, this review would have probably been better and gotten 4 stars. My wife liked her pasta, but not enough for the prices on the menu. Mine was horrible. I could have easily made better myself. I was planning on getting the Chicken Parmesan based on another review, but decided to try the homemade linguine with chicken, which was the BIG MISTAKE. The dish was bland, the sauce was the consistency of water. I should have told the waiter and refused to eat and pay for it. Most of the patrons were elderly and might be lacking a palate, thus the ability to stay in business. I don't understand how the chef could have put that dish out. I would have loved to see Robert Irvine sample my dish. Funny thing is other reviews liked the food and not the service and I found the opposite. Anyways, you might get a good hit here and you might miss. Good luck

Ordered our food family style which was a really good idea because we wanted good food but didn't have the time for the whole dining experience. We ordered the chicken piccata and the rigatoni with vodka sauce. Overall, the meal was pretty good. I would definitely order from them again. The chicken cutlets could be thinner since I am not a fan of thick cutlets. The flavor was good and the meal was enjoyable. 2 half trays feed 7 starving people (3 of which are men) and we still had some leftover. Great deal for great food!

Fourth time here and all have been excellent. Wife likes the gnocchi so much she keeps ordering it. Leave the Kids on the boardwalk and enjoy a good meal with good wine here. You deserve it.

The food was very good (4 star worthy); however, the service sucks. We should have left when the hostess told us they wouldn't be able to seat us because they were so backed up, but she ended up seating us because we had a reservation. We had to wait an eternity for our food and drinks. On top of that, we have a 2 year old who was absolutely starving after waiting an hour for his meatballs and raviolis. We had to basically beg the waitress to give us some bread to keep him from starving while he waited for his food. For some reason, this place is the absolutely stingy with their food.

Used to be great, has gone downhill. A little pricey for the quality of food you get. I always used to get the spaghetti and meatballs (sounds lame but they were really good), and it just hasn't measured up recently.

Long wait (45 minutes) for the food. $11.00 for a glass of house wine. $23.00 for eight ravioli with a tiny piece of lobster (barely could see one piece). Will not return and have notified friends and neighbors.

One of my favorite restaurants in Bethany. It's been here a really long time and has remained excellent. The subs are huge and packed with lots of toppings. The dinner entrees are great as well and the atmosphere is nice. My favorite is the lobster ravioli which comes with a huge mound of lobster on top. The mushroom ravioli is delicious too.

Difebo's is the worst restaurant in Bethany (and the most arrogant). We try this place once a year (hoping it gets better) and every year we continue to be disappointed. First of all it's nearly impossible to get reservations there (they always "claim" they're booked until 830, but if you show up with no reservations, amazingly there are always tables/room). In 2011 it was substitution of bolognaise sauce for marinara sauce, last year I found chicken in my vegetarian ravioli, and this year they can't seem to get an order correct. This week we went there an nothing we ordered came out correct, despite being reassured several times by the women who took our order that she was "checking with the chef" to ensure it would. And it's not cheap. So we wasted $25 on a meal we couldn't even stomach. It's sad that they don't realize how poor quality service AND poor quality food impacts a customer's experience. If you're interested in Italian food at the beach, recommend peruccis or heading up to Rehoboth/Lewes to Touch of Italy.

Since they are now open for breakfast, went the other morning and had an amazing meal. Hard to make a decision with all the choices. Choose the omelet and it was one of the best I have ever had. Ingredients are very fresh. Best lunch menu in town too. Jeff and Lisa do an amazing job.

Difebos's has started doing breakfast, and you don't want to miss it. Not only do you get the great Difebos ambiance and excellent service, the breakfast is perfect. There is a great deal of choice on the menu, with farm fresh, organiic, and classic foods. It is evident that everything is freshly made, and very well presented - not just slung on a plate like other places. My eggs benedict were perfectly poached, excellent Hollandaise sauce (done correctly and tastefully here), with a good side of hash browns. I ordered a side of bacon, and if there is such a thing as perfect bacon, this was it. My only regret, is I will have to return to have the waffle with fig and balsamic chocolate sauce.

Just had dinner here. Had the Burrata appetizer - delicious, spouse had the cioppino and I had the veal chop. Both were great. Cost not for the faint of heart. Had appetizer through dessert and all were well prepared, excellently served and presented.

It was a busy night but thankfully they take reservations. I very much enjoyed my chicken parmesan, but everyone else's food was even better. My gf got the crab stuffed ravioli which she described as ridiculously good. The meatball that came with her son's cheese ravioli was quite tasty. I was glad he didn't eat all of the meatball so I could but it on my side of spaghetti. Everything was excellent...even the broccoli which had overflowing flavor. We'll definitely be back next year.

I LOVE DiFebo's and have been coming here for years! The dinner menu is great, as is the lunch. For lunch, they will occasionally have a soft shell crab sandwich that is to die for - definitely get it when you see that it's available. They have amazing italian food, the atmosphere is inviting, and the staff is wonderful. At times, the italian music is a little much, but that doesn't bother me much. The bartender Blaine is phenomenal and makes some of the best drinks at the beach - try his homemade flavored vodka or, my favorite, tell him your favorite alcohol and have him make something up for you. I prefer eating an appetizer at the bar sometimes and getting a few drinks, just so he can do this!

Terrible experience. Server was very pushy and unprofessional, food was bland and WAY over priced. Has the lobster and shrimp pasta, which only has maybe 1/4 oz of lobster and was more like soup than sauce. Dirty inside with a ceiling that looked like it was going to cave in any minute. Beer tasted old or as if the lines were dirty. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, honestly no sure how they have ANY repeat customers.

The food was way too salty, but it was good nonetheless. For Bethany Beach, DE, this must be the nicest Italian place in town. I got about 15 mosquito bites while I was sitting in the patio. Not cool.

We dined here recently due to the promise of gluten-free pasta. It happened to be ladies' night on a Thursday so my food was half price. This was fairly fortuitous since we weren't all that psyched with our orders. My caesar salad was great but I found part of a crouton in it (maybe not a big deal to most, but if I'd accidentally eaten it, my vacation would have been wrecked). The kitchen kindly made red clam sauce instead of white, but I was not expecting bacon in the sauce. I was not particularly a fan of this flavor situation. The SO's order consisted of five raviolis, which is not exactly satisfactory for a grown dude. I liked the atmosphere - cute, romantic, and cozy but not super fancy; service was very friendly and attentive but we were a little disappointed in the food.

We really enjoyed our meal. I had shrimp and lobster in a porcini mushroom sauce. It was outstanding! Kid friendly. The caesar salad dressing was made in house and was very good. You won't be disappointed!

I have been eating at DiFebo's since I was a kid, when it was nothing more than a double-wide with meat slicer and a gravel parking lot. While DiFebo's has changed lot over the years, the awesome Italian food and family-owned atmosphere remains. I currently live on the West Coast, but go back to my parent's vacation home each year in August & DiFebo's is always a must. Whether it is ordering carryout subs form the deli, or sitting down for a 5-course dinner in the Dining Room, DiFebo's is sure to please. In the summer months (June-September), I highly recommend making RESERVATIONS far in advance. Even with a reservation, expect to wait a bit before being seated as it tends to get jammed. With a little patience and an appetite for delicious Italian cuisine, you are sure to love this place! Side Note: They sell their spicy, hot pepper-infused olive oil. I transported it back to L.A. because it is so good! I plan on bringing at least one bottle back each visit! Buy it!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
